Zimbabwe cops say they arrested 1,651 people on Wednesday 6 January 2021 for not wearing face masks in public.
Under the current hard lockdown, wearing a mask is mandatory under lockdown measures where people are not allowed to leave home save for shopping or seeking/ helping others medical attention.
There is a group of people who are allowed to leave home for work as they fall under essential services.
The above were among 3150 people countrywide who were suspected of flouting Covid-19 regulations in place.
Flouting of such regulations can attract a fine or custodial sentence depending on the gravity of the crime.
